The Complex Operating Unit of Diagnostic Imaging and Interventional Radiology represents an excellence in Diagnostic Imaging in Rome’s center that combines the maximum technology available today for equipment with a group of professionals able to manage and solve all the most complex diagnostic problems. The high level of competence and technology is accompanied by particular care for the environments designed to ensure maximum comfort, including psychological comfort, for the Patient.
The radiologist will analyze the images and, also on the basis of the medical history and clinical data, will describe the changes and suggest a diagnosis.
The report together with the images will be delivered to you or can be collected online. If necessary, the Radiologist prescribes other diagnostic investigations that can be performed simultaneously to clarify any diagnostic doubts.
Description of the structure
The Diagnostic Imaging and Interventional Radiology Unit is equipped with the most advanced technologies able to meet all diagnostic needs for each pathology and in each organ and apparatus.
In particular, Diagnostic Radiology, completely digitized and with a very low dose of radiation, is able to perform any Traditional Radiographic investigation (examinations of the skeleton, of the entire column even under load in a single radiogram and of the chest) and contrastographic (examinations of the gastro-enteric tract, of urological and gynecological interest such as hysterosalpingograms). In addition, there are 5 ultrasound scanners dedicated to different pathologies and in particular to senology and vascular Doppler diagnostics.
Within the UOC there are 2 senological rooms equipped with digital mammograms with tomosynthesis and dedicated ultrasound scanners available for the diagnosis of choice and screening with the possibility of performing targeted breast biopsies (VABB). A complete breast path is available to manage any breast problem, both diagnostic and therapeutic, in a very close collaboration with the Breast Unit.
There are also 3 multilayer CT equipment (128 layers) of the latest generation capable of performing all diagnostic investigations with advanced dose reduction systems including vascular studies and heart and coronary studies. A CT equipment with 80 cm gantry is dedicated to centering for radiotherapy treatments as part of a close collaboration and integration of information and technologies with the radiotherapy UOC.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is the technology of choice to solve many diagnostic problems in different pathologies, mainly neurological, orthopedic, cardiological and urological. Within the UOC there are 2 latest generation equipment available at different field strengths (1.5 and 3 Tesla) with 70 cm gantry and to ensure maximum comfort for the Patient. The 3T equipment today represents the state of the art in MRI diagnostics and is available in very few Centres in Rome, allowing very high anatomical detail in all diagnostic applications and in particular in the neurological, cardiological and urological fields. These two devices are complemented by an Esaote S Scan Open MRI device (0.25T) ideal for the study of osteoarticular pathology in claustrophobic patients.
A dedicated section of Interventional Radiology carries out diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for both inpatients and outpatients, providing users with therapeutic procedures on an outpatient or day hospital basis on the spine and joints (ozone therapy, nucleolysis and therapeutic infiltration), outpatient treatment of varicocele and bleeding for uterine fibroids.
First Aid Radiology has a digital radiological apparatus capable of coping with any diagnostic need in an emergency. The Operating Unit is fully digitised and all the images generated, in addition to the reports, are stored for 10 years and are always available to the user.
The team of the Diagnostic Imaging and Interventional Radiology Operating Unit is composed of highly experienced professionals able to deal with all the most complex diagnostic problems and has a very strong vocation for clinical research, boasting collaborations with Italian and international reference centres. The Medical Radiologist staff is at your disposal for any additional information.
