The UOS of Breast Diagnostics, included in the context of a multidisciplinary team, aims to:

  • offer all the senological diagnostic services with real-time reporting.
  • follow the Patients in the path of the staging of the disease
  • provide surgical care
  • follow-up of operated patients

All diagnostic investigations necessary for diagnosis/staging, including interventional procedures, are prescribed directly by the Team and will be performed simultaneously when possible and/or booked in the facility itself. A complete breast path is available to manage any breast problem, both diagnostic and therapeutic, in a very close collaboration with the Breast Unit.

Description of the structure

The Simple Breast Diagnostic Unit consists of two clinics both located on the ground floor, one of which is adjacent to and integrated into the Breast Unit.

Mammography rooms equipped with:

  • 2 low-dose 3D digital mammograms ( tomosynthesis), including a mammogram with additional guidance system for VAB under stereotactic guidance with a bed that allows to provide greater comfort to Patients, minimizing vagal reactions for the prone position.
  • 2 state-of-the-art ultrasounds dedicated to the diagnosis of choice and screening with the possibility of performing targeted breast biopsies (VABB), one of them with a 3D probe. 

Magnetic Resonance (MR)

Latest  generation multilayer CT capable of performing all diagnostic investigations with advanced dose reduction systems. The team of the Breast Diagnostics Operating Unit is composed of highly experienced professionals able to deal with all the most complex diagnostic problems and has a very strong vocation for clinical research, boasting collaborations with Italian and international reference centres. The Medical staff is at your disposal for any additional information.

Sportello Rosa

A service dedicated to women and men with breast symptoms, sent by the general practitioner. Where necessary, the Patient will undergo instrumental investigations: mammography, breast ultrasound, and, if necessary, a needle biopsy with a diagnosis within 24 hours. Every Friday, from 8.00 am to 11.30 am, without reservation.

Teaching activities

Organisation/Teaching of SIRM residential courses (2008-2009) at the FBF Isola Tiberina Hospital: Breast diagnosis by MRI.Training Project ” The MRI of the breast” – ASL2-Olbia (2014).

Teaching activities are carried out as part of the collaboration with the School of Specialization in Diagnostic Imaging of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart. Dr. Antoinette Moscone has obtained a teaching position at the University of Tor Vergata as a professor for the teaching of anatomy in the degree course in Nursing.
