- Rapid test at Synachen (60 minutes): 250 micrograms of intramuscular or intravenous ACTH (1 ampoule of Synachten 0.25 mg) are injected. Samples for cortisol (and/or 17 OH progesterone) at times 0′, 30′, 60′
- TRH test for TSH (20 minutes): Serum TSH is measured before and after IV injection of 200 mcg of synthetic TRH. Times 0′-20′ (unless otherwise prescribed by the specialist)
- THR test for PRL – prolactin (20 minutes): Serum prolactin is measured before and after the IV injection of 200 mcg of synthetic TRH. Times 0′-20′ (unless otherwise prescribed by the specialist)
- Test Relefact – GnRH for FSH and LH (1 hour and 30 minutes): baseline sampling at time 0′ for FSH and LH | IV injection of 100 mcg of Gonadorelin Collection times after stimulation: 30′, 60′, 90′ for FSH and LH
- Buserellin test – GnRH agonist for 17-OH Progesterone (2 Days): baseline sample for 17-OH progesterone. Subcutaneous injection of 0.6 mL of Suprefact (0.1 mg of Busetrelin: one vial of Suprefact contains 1 mg of Bureselin). Second sampling for 17-OH progesterone after 24 hours
- Prolactin, functional test without stimulus (30 minutes): avoid stressful situations. Samples at times 0′-30′ (unless otherwise prescribed by the specialist). If requested by the prescriber, the needle is left in place
- Clinostatic aldosterone (1 hour): sampling after at least one hour of uninterrupted clinostatic (lying position)
- Aldosterone in orthostatics (1 hour): sampling after at least one hour of uninterrupted orthostatics (standing position)
- MANTOUX and Quantiferon TB-GOLD test: test for tuberculosis diagnosis

Report Collection
We inform you that for the collection of reports of the Laboratory Analysis exams it is possible to contact the dedicated desk at the Ground Floor, Scale C:
- Mon – Fri 07.30 – 18.45 (until 15.00 in August and 24 and 31 December)
- Sat 07.30 – 12.45
The patient who withdraws personally must present an identity document and the receipt.
In the event of withdrawal by a delegated person, the following must be exhibited:
- Delegate
- Photocopy or Patient ID
- Identity document of the delegate
For Medical Genetics, HIV tests, reports can be collected at the Outpatient Clinic (ground floor, scale D):
- Tue – Thu 14.30 – 16.30
- Sat 08.00 – 10.00
Please note: It is not possible to use the proxy for the withdrawal of prenatal tests and the HIV report.
USEFUL INFORMATION ON SOME TYPES OF WITHDRAWALS
- Withdrawals are carried out in two rooms.
- If only vaginal or urethral swabs are to be performed for common germs, Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma, Mycetae, Trichomonas, HPV research and typing, messenger HPVRNA it is preferable to use in the late morning.
- In the late morning you can take advantage of a greater availability of the administrative staff or the attending physician to give explanations for the correct compilation by the general practitioner of the demanding in order to avoid unpleasant inconveniences at the counter at the time of acceptance.
The following are considered precedence:
- ncology patients on therapy with certified exemption
- Patients with 100% civil disability
- Pregnancies at risk with exemption and declared certification = M 50 and explicit diagnosis on the referral (whatever the week of gestation) and physiological at VIII and IX months
- Dynamic curves
- Children
- Patients with semen examination for fertility (spermiogram)
- Patients who have already had their blood drawn at home
- The glycemic and insulinemic curves have the right of precedence in the register, but have the time limit of acceptance: until 9.30 am.
- Collections of patients on oral anticoagulant therapy are carried out from Monday to Friday. The booking of these withdrawals is managed by the Operating Unit of Medicine, at the administrative desks (second floor, staircase B).
- The dynamic hormonal curves are carried out exclusively in the morning shift from Monday to Friday. These curves must be booked for a maximum of 2 per day; the curves reservations are guaranteed by the staff of the collection room in the time slot from 8.00 to 9.00 at the telephone number 066837217 (from Monday to Saturday from 8.00 to 12.00). Except for TRH and Relefact – GnRH, the user must purchase the drug and deliver it to the laboratory on the day of the test.TRH test for TSH and/or ProlactinTest for Relefact – GnRH for FSH and LHTest for Buserelin – GnRH agonist for 17-OH Progesterone
- The dynamic hormonal curves are carried out exclusively in the morning shift from Monday to Friday. - In the Collection Room it is possible to perform cervical swab for the search for HPV which allows to exclude or confirm the presence of one or more of the 14 most statistically frequent high-risk virus genotypes. The report of this test can be available to the user 60 minutes after arrival at the laboratory. The test is provided for a fee, therefore it does not require presentation of the test by the general practitioner or gynaecologist. Starting from this test, which immediately indicates the presence of the virus, a “tailor-made” outpatient path can be defined for the patient, indicating what, if necessary, the next diagnostic steps are, in a targeted way, without wasting time or additional services.
- The “lymphocyte subpopulation” examination is performed every day and accepted by 12.00.
- Vaginal swabs are performed exclusively by the doctors on duty in the collection room and are not subject to reservation.
- Patients recalled to perform samples in the event of tests to be repeated can go to the sampling room where the attending physician in turn will re-accept and re-run the tests.
All genetic tests, as per guidelines, must always be preceded and accompanied by genetic counseling necessary to specify the boundaries within which to carry out the tests, provide the patient or couple with information about the risks, define the reliability and limits of the techniques used for the investigation, and help patients in the interpretation of the result and its clinical implications.
